Wyrd Astro Body Mystery School (WABOMS) is a year-round astrological, psychophysical and magical training ground. WABOMS anchors art, healing and animist spirit work within the celestial and chthonic threshold techniques of Nate Alden Speare’s Six Imaginal Zones and AstroErotics.

WABOMS is a living mystery school where astrology, the erotic imagination, the body's deep wisdom, and the cracked and fractured land beneath your feet speak to each other. And through that conversation, you find your way back to yourself, to the seasons, to something larger than your own striving.

We meet in six-week seasonal cycles, year-round, anchored to the solstices, equinoxes and cross-quarter days of the northern hemisphere wheel. There are no prerequisites- you can enter at any cycle, at any season. What's required is curiosity, a willingness to be changed, and a body.

Descending Summer Cycle: The Dog Days

For the descending summer cycle, the sun begins its long journey south, but we're still in the heart of summer's heat- the ancient Dog Days, when Cancer and Leo, Moon and Sun, hold court together in the sky.

This cycle moves through the imaginal zone of Affect, the territory of feeling-as-perception, and its chthonic counterpart of Engulfment and Dissociation. The marshy depths where emotion pools, where the ground gives way beneath us, and where something genuinely caring waits to carry us back to shore.

We'll work with lunar and solar erotics — the receptive, ancestral, deeply feeling currents of the Moon, and the radiant, self-celebrating currents of the Sun — as living forces in the body, in creative practice, and in relationship.

A threshold spirit governs this territory: an ancient guardian of water, of being held, of the passage between drowning and rescue. You'll meet them in your own time, through vision, ceremony, and the body's own knowing.

July 19th-August 23rd. Weekly live calls. Creative and ritual assignments. A community of fellow travelers. No prior experience required — only curiosity, a willingness to be moved, and a body.

The Six Imaginal Zones™️

At the heart of WABOMS is a cosmogram I developed through years of practice and graduate research: the Six Imaginal Zones. Each zone maps a quality of image-making—Definition, Directionality, Affect, Signature, Scale, Language—onto the chakras of the human body, the signs of the tropical zodiac, and the energy centers of the land itself.

Each zone also has an underworld counterpart: the fault line where that energy center bleeds into the organs, bones, and skin of the body and the Earth. In WABOMS, each six-week cycle is anchored to a particular zone and its seasonal moment. The work lives in your body, in your creative practice, and in the ground beneath your feet.

AstroErotics™️ is the thread of WABOMS that works with the planets as erotic forces- archetypal powers that become allies in every area of your life and in your service to the world around you. Learning to take responsibility for your own erotic energy is one of the most direct paths to self-knowledge.

We work with the erotic because it's where our strongest emotions and most charged experiences live. Each planet carries a specific quality of desire, a particular way of experiencing longing, pleasure, and union. Lunar Sex courts emotional depth and ancestral exchange. Neptunian Sex reaches for the dissolution of separateness into something vast. Solar Sex celebrates and uplifts the unique genius and prowess of the being you are.

In WABOMS, these planetary erotic realities are explored through the astrological masks carved for my residency in Bali—one mask per planet—and through movement, image-making, and creative assignments that bring these forces into your actual embodied life. This is a cosmology of desire situated within a living mystery school—a rigorous devotional practice that honors the erotic as a portal to self-knowledge, creative freedom, and service to the living world.

In 2025, Nate Alden Speare traveled to Bali for an artist's residency with mask makers and theatre artists Per Brahe, and Erik Wahyudi, Ketut, and the Bali Theatre Work Center. Nate was certified as a practitioner and teacher of the visionary Poleng Mask Work developed by Per Brahe. The planetary masks—wood-carved and ceremonially made—are now part of Nate works with clients and students.
